Please stop by the Connection Cafe right inside the front doors to pick up coffee, tea, hot chocolate or water. It is all free.
There is a Connection Center with helpful people to answer any questions.
There are clearly marked signs around to help you find where you want to go. Places like drinking fountains and bath rooms are indicated.
What is a Service Like?
The message you will hear will be relevant to your daily life. It will contain solid Christian theology based upon the Bible. It will be interesting, enjoyable, intelligent, and understandable. Sometimes it will be humorous and sometimes it will tug at your heart.
Music at the 9 a.m. worship will be a bit more traditional with mainly piano and organ. Our contemporary service at 10:30 a.m. has a praise band with vocalists, guitars and drums. We have a projection system. You can expect to see graphical images and occasional video clips on the screen during worship.
While hymnals are located in the pews for reference, the front screens have the words to the songs. We have comfortable padded seating. The worship service will last about 60 minutes.
Please dress comfortably. We have a flexible dress code. It is not uncommon to see people in shorts and sandals or jeans and sneakers. You will also see some wearing a sports coat or some even a full suit.
Directions and Parking
Reserved parking is located near the front door for those with mobility challenges. Parking spaces are clearly marked. We have several parking lots located around the Church, some fill up fast, others will always have room.
Visitors are not expected to contribute to the morning offering. We want you to feel welcome as our guest with no pressure to give. The offerings we do collect provide the revenues to allow us to provide local and worldwide ministries.
In the 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. service, Communion (also known as the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist) is offered on the first Sunday of every month. Communion here is open to anyone regardless of your faith tradition / church affiliation.
Everyone who wants to grow his or her faith and build a greater relationship with Jesus is welcome to participate. You can also choose not to participate, sit back, enjoy the music and quietly reflect upon your life.
Children’s Ministry
Our ministry for children is called Rock City Kids Ministry. It is held during both 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services – complete with worship music, large group biblical teachings, small group experience, take home papers and a snack.
A greeter at the front doors to the church will be happy to show you the way. There are programs for all ages with a variety of activities.

We have an awesome nursery for infants and toddlers. Childcare is provided during all worship times. We have paid staff in the nursery as well as volunteer helpers during each time period, additionally we have a Good Shepherd (monitor) that walks the Church.
We will ask you to sign-in when you drop off your child. Pagers are available upon request. If you choose to use a pager, the nursery staff will “page” you if there is a concern about your child. (Don’t worry, the pagers are all set to “vibrate”).
Children in the Service:
Children are important to the life of LUMC. Children are always welcome to stay with you during worship. We encourage children to attend Rock City offered during both hours of worship.
In addition to being very cute, babies cry. That’s what they do. We have two rocking chairs in the back of the sanctuary for anyone to use. If you feel the need to leave the service with your baby, the Welcome Center broadcasts the sermon on a television. The nursery is another option with the service shown on a television there. If you need a hand or help, just ask an usher or good shepherd.
