Nursery

WELCOME TO LITHOPOLIS UMC. . .

Nursery Brochure

We welcome you and your child(ren) to the Lithopolis United Methodist Church and our Nursery care program. It is our goal to provide a fun, loving and safe, Christian environment for children ages birth through three-years-old. In addition to our volunteer nursery caregivers, we have two Nursery Attendants who will be in the nursery every Sunday on a rotating basis. In accordance with our Safe Sanctuary policy*, our nursery is staffed by an attendant and volunteer at the first service; attendant and teen helper during Christian Education; and Attendant, adult volunteer and teen helper during second service. Our Nursery Attendants will help to ensure a familiar and consistent setting for your child(ren).

NURSERY SIGN-IN

Parents of children in the nursery are asked to sign children in when dropping them off, and sign them out when picking them up. If anyone other than the parent is to pick up a child, that arrangement must be made with the Nursery Attendant ahead of time. Please remember to be prompt when picking up your child(ren).

NURSERY SAFETY

In the event we should need to summon a parent during service, our Nursery is equipped with a pager system. Please note your pager number on the sign-in sheet before leaving. Our Nursery Attendant will be happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding the pagers. Pagers are required to be taken by all parents.

MISC. NURSERY INFO

* Our Nursery is staffed throughout the 9:00 service, 10:10 Christian Education time, and 11:00 service.

* We provide the following snacks during nursery time: Cheerios and miniature pretzels. (Please alert the Nursery Attendant if you do not wish for your child(ren) to receive a snack.)
* In an effort to reduce germs, we sanitize nursery toys on a weekly basis.
* A Good Shepherd (hall monitor) circulates throughout the facility on Sunday mornings to check halls and monitor classrooms.

Safe Sanctuaries at Lithopolis UMC means providing every means to insure that all children, youth and adults entering the doors of our church enter a safe environment where they can sense the love of God, grow in their faith, and feel comfortable and safe in all settings. To that end, nursery caregivers have participated in a training program, have had background checks and have been fingerprinted. Our congregation, in all of our ministries with children, youth, and adults, is committed to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each person will be “...surrounded by steadfast love, established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal.” (Baptismal Covenant II, UM Hymnal, 44)

Kids Church

This opportunity is for children ages 4 through grade 5. Adult presenters team up to provide a program appropriate for each age group during a portion of the worship service.

Sunday School - Pre-School to Grade 12 (also called Christian Ed)
Classes meet each Sunday 10:10-10:55 a.m.

NURSERY CARE (Infant to 2 ½ years)
Location: Room 101 - Upper level
A well staffed nursery is available for children’s use during the education hour. Play time, snack time, nap time, or story time is “custom” provided for your little one, while the rest of the family is participating in Christian Education.

PRE-SCHOOL thru KINDERGARTEN
Location: Room 102 - Upper level
In our 3-6 year old class we learn by repetition. We may “act out” our story, play dress up or use flannel board cut outs to help us imagine our characters. We also have a craft time, a small snack and sometimes a small play period. We have a puppet stage and puppets to help us learn about the Bible. Come join us for a FUN morning!

FIRST & SECOND GRADES
Location: Room 104 - Upper level
This class is for children in 1st & 2nd grade. Come and join our class as we explore the stories of the Bible. We offer a variety of activities to help each child relate to both Biblical and contemporary people of faith. During the religious seasons, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter we have special experiences planned. We share a snack and do crafts. Sometimes we listen to music. We have lots of fun celebrating the joy of Christ!

THIRD GRADE
Location: Room 103 -Upper level
The 3rd grade studies age-appropriate Bible lessons through a variety of games and activities. We also study the Lord’s Prayer and the Ten Commandments. The children are encouraged to bring and use their Bibles as well as study during the week at home. We hope to see you in class!

FOURTH & FIFTH GRADE
Location: Room B2 - Lower level
The 4th & 5th graders have a very fun class with enthusiastic leaders and energetic students. Lessons challenge the young minds to use their own Bibles and explore God’s Word on their own. The students discuss ways the scripture applies to their lives at home and at school. We try to have the kids become familiar with finding passages from all areas. We end class time with prayer and sometimes a snack.

AMPLIFY – 6th-12th GRADES
Location: Multi Ministry Center (MMC)
The Amplify Class focuses on helping youth live out their faith…to live life loud! Breakfast is served each morning, followed by a “big group” discussion time. We then go into small groups where the discussion can go deeper and relationships can be made.
